When In Rome, Do As The Romans Do

 

    This old saying means that when a person visits a new place he should comply with its rules and copy the habits and customs of its people. ‘When I visit my cousin on his farm I get up at dawn,' Joe yawned. ‘When in Rome, do as the Romans do'.

 

    When In Rome, Do As The Romans Do 是一句古语,直译过来,就是“在罗马时,就和罗马人一样”。这和我们中文里的“入乡随俗”是一个意思。所以当一个人到了一个新地方或者一个新环境,他 / 她都应该尽快的适应当地的风俗习惯,因为入乡随俗嘛。
